On 9 December, during its annual meeting with the company’s long-term customers, ALROSA’s management committee announced that it will extend its long-term supply contracts, which have been successfully in force since 2009.  Beginning in 2015,  the contract period will last three years. Approximately 70% of ALROSA’s rough diamonds are sold under long-term contract terms.

In this new contract framework, Antwerp remains the company’s core customer base, which will consolidate the diamond trade between Russia and Belgium.

With new mines coming online in the very near future, ALROSA will continue to be a significant contributor to the global diamond supply, estimated to grow by an average of 3.5-4 percent during 2013-2019, according to Bain & Company, as stated in their fourth annual report on the global diamond industry.
