CSR & Compliance

Since December 2012, as part of AWDC's partnership with WeForest, the organisation has planted 1850 trees on behalf of AWDC, in the Embu district in the western slopes of Mount Kenya, reforesting the equivalent of 0.41 hectares of degraded land.

WeForest is an international not-for-profit organisation dedicated to sustainable reforestation in areas that are impacted by the mining industry.  Its main objective is to participate in countering global warming and promote the international movement to recover part of the forests, which have disappeared.  In essence, WeForest buys and plants trees. Through its operations, WeForest also actively encourages local communities to nurture the forest.

The partnership with WeForest is part of AWDC's commitment to defend the integrity of the diamond by initiating several projects that address environmental, ethical and societal issues.
