Diamond industry present at UN Global Compact Leaders’ summit in New York

On September 19th and 20th, the United Nations (UN) Global Compact Leaders’ Summit took place in New York. The theme of the Summit was “Architects of a Better World”. Rosy Blue NV, one of the leading diamond companies worldwide, represented the Belgian Global Compact Network.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon chaired the summit. The guest list was impressive with leaders from the business world, civil society, the UN and governments, as well as from 100 Global Compact networks.

The purpose of the gathering was to offer a new global concept for corporate sustainability as well as a framework for the contribution of the business world to the implementation of the Global Compact ‘Millenium Development Goals’.

On Wednesday September 18th, Her Majesty the Queen of Belgium attended a panel discussion, “Children’s rights are everyone’s business”, together with Mr. Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium. Other participants were Belgian and international CEO’s, including Mr. Amit Bhansali, Managing Director of Rosy Blue NV.
