Security

"See Something, Say Something!" is an AWDC SO awareness campaign. It is a simple and effective program to raise the diamond community’s awareness on indicators of possible suspicious activities and to emphasize the importance of reporting them to the AWDC SO or Local Police of Antwerp (LPA).

As a member of the Antwerp Diamond Community, security awareness should always be a part of your day-to-day mindset.  No one can spot something suspicious better than you. To spot the abnormal, one has to know the normal.

Some examples of suspicious activities, behaviors or persons are:

  • Suspicious persons “out of place”, taking pictures of security measures, filming surroundings
  • Suspicious vehicles near your workplace or residence
  • Intruders in “secure areas”, where they are not supposed to be
  • Strangers asking questions about security or building security procedures
  • People asking questions about sensitive information such as building blueprints or security plans without a right or need to know
  • People drawing or measuring buildings
  • A briefcase, suitcase, backpack, or package that is left behind
  • People engaging in criminal activities

If you see something suspicious, report those activities, behaviors and persons to the AWDC SO or Local Police of Antwerp (LPA):

  • If urgent: call the police by dialing “101
  • If not urgent:

Via AWDC SO:

Via the Police:

Why you should report this?

  1. Because it’s the right thing to do …
  2. Together we are stronger
  3. Prevention
  4. Fact registration
  5. Small piece can complete the puzzle
  6. Clear and up-to-date view on REAL threats and risks
  7. Benchmark
  8. Allocation of resources (time/people/money)
  9. If something does happen, but you didn’t say anything … there might be an impact on     yourself and your organization!
  10. Integrated, coordinated, balanced response

“SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!”

The AWDC SO considers discretion, confidentiality and privacy as three key elements in dealing with the privileged information and reports received from members of the diamond community. AWDC SO also monitors the process for an automatic feedback loop in order to keep you up to date on the status of the report.
