Chinese Ambassador Yang Yanyi visits Antwerp diamond sector

On Wednesday 9 April, Her Excellency Ambassador Yang Yanyi, Head of the Permanent Representation of the People’s Republic of China to the European Union, visited the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC). All female personnel from the Permanent Representation to the EU took part in this visit, in the context of the International Women’s Day.

Diamonds are an important product in terms of trade relations between Belgium and China. They constitute 9% of the total exports from Belgium to China.  AWDC therefore places a significant focus on strengthening relations with China. On 31 March 2014, in the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping, AWDC and the Shanghai Diamond Exchange signed a Cooperation Agreement.
