During this year’s Open Company Day, which took place on October 5, the Antwerp diamond sector raised 1300 euros for charity. The proceeds were donated to the Antwerp Food Bank.

"We welcomed thousands of visitors during this year’s Open Company Day," says Freddy Inzlicht, Vice Chairman of the AWDC. "It was an ideal opportunity to raise money for the less fortunate in the province of Antwerp." During a unique ‘diamond cocktail’, visitors eager for a chance to win a real diamond could buy a glass of champagne for 5 euros. The money raised through AWDC’s diamond cocktail was donated to the Food Bank, which was able to buy 1105 kilograms of sugar, equivalent to 5,525,000 carats of sugar.

The Food Bank of the Province of Antwerp helps the less fortunate living in the province of Antwerp. The food bank operates on donations from companies and surpluses it receives from supermarkets.
