Mining Security & Crisis Management Forum taking place this week in Cape Town

On November 12 & 13, the 2014 edition of the Mining Security & Crisis Management Forum took place in Cape Town. The forum was specifically aimed at managers, directors, analysts and heads of security of mining companies and exploration companies, and addressed both physical security threats and cyber threats.

Participants learned how best to mitigate and prevent key challenges, and had an opportunity to enhance their knowledge of the latest security methods, solutions and technologies, in order to design a proactive security strategy specifically tailored to the security needs of their mine. They were also be able to share information and strategies with industry peers and relevant Governmental bodies.

One of the experts speaking at the event, Stephan Van Hauwe, AWDC’s Head of Security and Operations, gave a workshop on ‘the illusion of security’.
