The Antwerp Indian Association and Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) are extremely pleased with the attendance at the International Day of Yoga in Antwerp last Sunday. Nearly 1,500 yoga enthusiasts participated in the open-air yoga session. The event was part of a global initiative proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which was adopted by 192 U.N. Member States. Photos from the event and television reports are now online.

The Antwerp session was held on the field at the Middelheimlaan in Wilrijk. “We are extremely pleased by how well the Yoga Day went,” said Mehul Kothari, chairman of the Antwerp Indian Association. “We hope that this event will result in more people becoming interested in experiencing yoga for themselves. Not only is it a holistic approach to health and well-being, it is also an important part of our tradition and culture. We are therefore proud to be able to share it today with so many people.”

Every participating country used the same program that the Indian government put together. Brussels and Ghent were also among the many cities to hold a yoga session.
