Welcome

Today, in global terms, the diamond business is worth more than $60 billion per annum, and provides a career and livelihood to millions of skilled individuals on all five continents. The axis around which that business turns is Antwerp, the Belgian city that has enjoyed an unbroken association with the diamond for more than five centuries.

Antwerp is considerably more than just a place where diamonds are bought, sold and manufactured. It is the critical intersection on the world map that facilitates the operation of the entire diamond business. With a financial, technical and intellectual infrastructure that is unrivalled in the industry, Antwerp is the centre from which a multinational industrial and commercial network is coordinated, enabling a process whereby the rough diamonds that are extracted from the earth each year eventually are sold as sparkling showpieces in millions of items of jewellery.

The Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) is an industry-established foundation whose mission is to serve and support the diamond business in Belgium. Headquartered in the heart of Antwerp’s diamond district, its Board of Directors is elected directly by those who define the Antwerp Diamond Community.

This website is designed to introduce you to the AWDC, its range of specialised services, and to the Antwerp diamond centre and to the jewel with which it is inexorably related. As our slogan states: “Diamonds love Antwerp.”
