Varda Shine, executive Vice President of De Beers, visits Antwerp

Varda Shine, executive Vice President of De Beers, visited Antwerp this week. She was in Antwerp along with senior members of the De Beers Global Sightholder Sales team for the annual Business Review Meetings with De Beers Sightholders.

Whilst in Antwerp, Ms. Shine addressed the Sightholder community at the MUHKA Museum where, earlier this year, the successful Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair networking event took place. In her speech, Varda Shine updated the audience on the relocation of De Beers’ sales activities to Botswana, which is on schedule for completion later this year. The inaugural Sight to be held in Gaborone will be in November.

Ms. Shine also highlighted the continuing importance of Antwerp as a leading diamond centre, in terms of acting as a hub for rough and polished diamonds and playing a central role in diamond banking.

She ended her speech on a personal note, stating Antwerp is not only home to diamonds but also to the best chocolates in the world!
