On Sunday 5 October 2014, the 24rd ‘Open Bedrijvendag’ will take place. Following the success of the last two years, the Antwerp diamond community will again open its doors to the general public.

The month of May continued the positive streak of this year in rough trading, that is, an improved performance as compared to 2013. We notice a slight decline in imports of polished goods this month, largely due to the decrease of stones coming in from the USA, Israel and Switzerland.
Yesterday, the City of Antwerp and the AWDC awarded three additional Antwerp jewelers the quality label 'Antwerp's Most Brilliant', indicating they meet the strictest requirements in terms of quality, service and transparency. Antwerp's Most Brilliant was launched earlier this year and collects the city's most qualitative and reliable jewellers, living up to Antwerp’s reputation as a diamond centre of excellence.
On Wednesday June 25, during the first meeting of the new Board of Directors of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) the Board members reelected Stéphane Fischler as President of the AWDC. The Board of Directors also appointed Kaushik Mehta as Vice-President, representing the trade, and Freddy Inzlicht as Vice-President representing the Bourses.
Earlier this week, Mumbai-based Union Bank of India opened a branch in the heart of the diamond district in Antwerp.
Following a meeting in Brussels with the Zimbabwean Ambassador to Belgium and in the framework of the World Diamond Congress, organized by the World Federation of Diamond Bourses and the International Diamond Manufacturers Association, Mr. Walter Chidakwa, Zimbabwean Minister of Mines visited the Antwerp diamond sector.
Last week, Honourable Isak Katali, Namibian Minister of Mines met with AWDC Management during his visit to Antwerp for the World Diamond Congress.
Mr. Katali and AWDC representatives engaged in discussions concerning beneficiation. AWDC and the Antwerp diamond community always strives to maximize returns to the governments and people of diamond producing countries provide for their raw materials
