Earlier this week, First Element Ltd announced the first tender of Zimbabwean diamonds, which is currently being held in the Antwerp Diamond Tender Facility, from Wednesday December 11 to Tuesday December 17, 2013. The diamond tender, the first one held in Antwerp since the European Union lifted the sanctions against the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC), is the result of high level meetings of the Zimbabwean officials and the Antwerp World Diamond Centre in Harare, Zimbabwe and Antwerp in the past month.

The tender includes goods from Marange Resources, Diamond Mining Company (DMC), Anjin Investments, Jinan and Kusena Diamonds, and will be held in the Antwerp Diamond Tender Facility located in the AWDC offices.
In the margins of their annual client meeting in Antwerp ALROSA signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Antwerp World Diamond Centre that aims to further strengthen the unique relationships between the world's largest diamond producer and the world's leading diamond trading hub. The agreement was signed by ALROSA’s President, Fyodor Andreev and AWDC’s President Stéphane Fischler, in the presence of the Governor of the Province of Antwerp, Cathy Berx and Alderman for Diamond of the city of Antwerp, Ludo Van Campenhout.

One of the highlights of the Belgian Spirit program was the uncovering of the most expensive pair of diamond boots in the world, the result of a collaboration between Antwerp based companies Diarough/ UNI-Design and A.F.Vandevorst. Her Majesty the Queen of the Belgians and the Minister-President of the Government of Flanders Kris Peeters and the Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders attended the unveiling of the diamond boots on 4 December.
The monthly import and export figures of the Antwerp diamond trade indicate polished trade increased in value as well as in volume in October, especially the export of polished diamonds rose.
