Yesterday, in the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) and the Shanghai Diamond Exchange (SDE) signed a Cooperation Agreement, outlining their cooperation with respect to the development of an exclusive commercial and trade relationship. The signing of such an agreement, in the framework of President Xi Jinping’s first visit to Europe as Head of State, marks the key importance of the diamond trade between Antwerp and China.
Today the Antwerp diamond sector welcomed Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma. The visit of the presidential delegation underscores the importance of the trade relations between Sierra Leone and Antwerp’s diamond industry. A significant part of Sierra Leone’s diamond production is in fact traded in Antwerp.
Following the success of the TV series ‘Deadline 14/10’, producers decided to shoot a second season entitled ‘Deadline 25/5’. As in the first season, the Antwerp diamond sector features in the plot. This time, the backdrop for the series is the federal election in May 2014. The series will air from Sunday 30 March on ATV and from Thursday 3 April on VTM.
