On Wednesday 14 May 2014, H.E. Denis Robert, Canadian Ambassador to Belgium, visited the Antwerp diamond sector. Stéphane Fischler, AWDC President and Ari Epstein, AWDC CEO received the Canadian delegation. The ambassador visited the Diamond Office, HRD Antwerp and the Antwerp Diamond Tender Facility.

Due to sector demand, AWDC will organize an additional level 1 AML & Compliance Seminar on 5th of June from 12:00 to 14:00 in the AWDC offices, located at Hoveniersstraat 22, 2018 Antwerp.

Starting today, diamond companies, which have already attended an AML & Compliance seminar, can register for the level 2 follow-up course, organized by AWDC starting 23 June.

On Monday 5 May, the Diamond Election Debate took place in Antwerp’s Beurs voor Diamanthandel, organized by AWDC, in cooperation with UNIZO. Current issues and diamond-related topics such as taxation, competitiveness of the Antwerp diamond sector and the importance of the financing of the diamond trade were discussed.
More than 250 participants attended this event, which took place in the Beurs voor Diamanthandel. It was a vivacious debate with Meyrem Almaci representing Groen, Philippe De Backer representing Open VLD, David Geerts representing Sp.a, Jan Jambon representing N-VA en Steven Vanackere representing CD&V.

In the run-up to the 2014 federal elections, AWDC, in cooperation with UNIZO, is organizing an Election Diamond Debate. This unique debate will focus on current issues and diamond-related topics and will be followed by a networking reception, taking place at 16:00 in the Beurs voor diamanthandel, in the heart of the diamond sector.

Over 180 sports enthusiasts wore the colours of the Antwerp diamond sector during the annual Antwerp Ten Miles. We would like to congratulate all runners on their accomplishment and thank them for their participation.
