‘Ambacht in de kijker’ or ‘Craftsmanship in the spotlight’ is an annual, national competition that aims to promote the crafts sector to the general public. The organization, along with its numerous public and private Flemish and Wallonian partners selected twelve candidates. The general public can also vote for their favorite contestant until 15 April via http://www.ambachtindekijker.com. The winner of the public’s choice award will receive €2000. Voters have the chance to win a culinary gourmet basket worth €100.

Registrations for the Antwerp Diamond Team at the Antwerp Ten Miles are coming in at a rapid pace. Already 120 enthusiastic runners joined the team to participate in the run, taking place on Sunday 27 April.

February import and export figures of the Antwerp diamond sector continue to indicate a high trade performance. Following the excellent kick-off of the year in January, the positive trend continued last month with soaring trade as compared to February 2013.

Is your client a registered Belgian diamond dealer? Identify him using the following website: www.registereddiamondcompanies.be.
On 7 October 2013 the new Royal Decree on diamond dealers was published. Article 4 § 2 of this decree determines that, if your client or supplier is a Belgian registered diamond dealer, you can identify him by referring to the following website: www.registereddiamondcompanies.be. You are only required to print out the identification found on the website and keep it in on-file. Other documents, such as a passport scan or the statues are no longer required.

The Royal Decree of 7 October 2013 prescribes that diamond dealers are required to determine the identity of his diamond supplier if the transaction takes place in payments made in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, in cash.
