Following the success of previous years, the Antwerp diamond sector will again be present at the Study Information Days (SID-in Fair), which will take place from 29 till 31 January in Antwerp. In collaboration with the Fonds voor Diamantnijverheid, AWDC will inform students about the basic training program for diamond polishing and promote the Antwerp Diamond Jobs website.

The World Diamond Council (WDC) has announced an update to the WDC web site to provide easier access to the System of Warranties guidelines. The System of Warranties (SoW) is a voluntary system of industry self-regulation created to support and strengthen the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme.

In 2003, the UN imposed sanctions on Ivory Coast, forbidding the country to trade diamonds. Now that political calm has returned, Belgium’s FPS Foreign Affairs and the Antwerp World Diamond Centre are helping the Ivorian government set up a monitoring system so that they will be able to adhere to the strict conditions of the Kimberley Process, and resume their diamond trade.

In 2015, a new Antwerp Diamond Pavilion will be set up courtesy of AWDC. The new pavilion will be located at the Vicenzaoro Dubai show, a unique B2B event in the Middle East dedicated to the jewellery business community. The show will be held from April 23 to 26, 2015.

Following the success of previous editions, the Antwerp diamond sector will participate next year for the third time in the ‘Antwerp Ten Miles’ on Sunday 26 April 2015.

Economically speaking, Sub-Saharan Africa is an interesting continent for a multitude of business sectors.
